IRS Give Android/iPhone App for Follow Refunds

I loaded the app on my phone.  I haven't filed my taxes yet, so I could test the refund status.  However, selecting the contact info directly connects to the phone app.  It's nice not to have to select or type the number.

Some Articles Discussing Android vs. iPhone Security

http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/216733/is_android_less_secure_than_iphone_um_no.html

An interesting comparison of the iPhone and Android security issues.  The author didn't have kind words for Trend Micro.

Discusses another anti virus software company's hype or FUD.

An nice discussion of the 'opened' verse 'proprietary' software issues.  This was in response to the Trend Micro article.

Re: [android] Android phones more vulnerable to cyber attacks than Apple iPhone

Is there any hard evidence to support this statement?

The first paragraph in the article says "may be more susceptible".  The current problems have been through applications that one loads onto the phone (iPhone or Android phone) and not through back doors or hacks that use a knowledge of the underlying open source.  This has been a problem for both iPhone and Android.

Although the article discusses the some of the security features of iPhone, it fails to mention similar features that are used in the Android environment.

This article has more to do with Steve Chang trying to create a market for his company's 'Mobile Security for Android' product.  It is interesting that Trend Micro doesn't have a mobile security application for the iPhone.

Android smart phones are more susceptible to hacking and viruses than Apple's iPhone; the Android operating system is open source, allowing hackers to understand the underlying code; Apple iPhone may have a safer operating system, but it is not impervious to attacks; McAfee warns that 2011 will see hackers increasingly target mobile devices like Android phones, iPads, and iPhones
